Just watched https://my90stv.com for entirely too long.
Remember music tv? If not, I'm sorry. 😉
A design I started a while back for a native mobile DeSo app.
Didn't get too far with it; just this screen, really. Idea was for it to be focused on creator tooling and discoverability.
Fun fact: I started my professional career as a UI/UX designer. I designed mobile apps for a few years while I taught myself to code. I was fortunate to do design work with companies like McDonalds, The Associated Press, SeatGeek, and 1 Second Everyday.

I disagree. Creator coins are the reason BitClout popped off, but they’ve been neglected. No subscriptions, no staking, no utility; just rug pulls.
As I said, I’m still bullish on the concept, but DeSo has failed to deliver.
That said, if the core team ever gets their heads out of their asses, a V2 could work.
Expecting things to just fix themselves is delusional, imo.
What a year!
One year ago, today, I learned about BitClout. I couldn't have predicted the profound impact it'd have on me and my career.
A year ago I was an Android app developer, having done that for over a decade. I was tired, bored, and longing to distance myself from companies like Google.
I flirted with blockchain dev since 2018, but nothing convinced me to take the plunge until I saw the response to the BitClout launch. It showed me that maybe there was a chance for web3, after-all.
I'm grateful for this community, especially to the friends I've made along the way. It may not be much to the outside (right now), but this is a special place filled with great people.
Thanks to my friends, supporters, and followers!
Anyone have an invitation to Amazon’s new app, Amp?
It’s basically Clubhouse meets Turntable.fm where you can create live “radio shows”.
A peak at a few of the features coming in the next release of @plus:
1. Quickly log out of accounts from the account selector.
2. Blocked tab added which lists all blocked accounts. You can view anyone's blocked list.
3. Quickly unblock users when viewing your own blocked list.
4. Sidebar list of followed accounts that were recently active.
The Recently Active sidebar might be my favorite new Plus feature in a while. It's rarely empty. 🙂
Perhaps one of the coolest NFTs that I (now) own!
Eyes: Looking Straight | Eyebrow Expression: Blank | Background: Stars | Items: None | Tie: Pink | Shirt: White | Hair Color: Pink | Eyebrow Color: Violet | Mouth: Closed Plain
NFT includes name in credits and naming of a future side character. Applicable to all owners at any point in time.

There are more possible DeSo wallets than atoms in the observable universe.
Your "seed phrase" is comprised of 2048 possible words, from a list called "BIP39". The specific selection and order of the words is used to mathematically derive your private key (seed).
The technical name for this is a "mnemonic phrase", but you may hear it called things like "Secret Recovery Phrase". It's often 12 words, but can be as long as 24. More words means more secure.
You can think of all possible public keys as already existing; eligible to receive $DESO without anyone ever touching it. This is actually the case for all Hierarchical Deterministic wallets that use BIP39, like BTC and ETH.
In fact, you can play cosmic lottery and try your luck at finding Satoshi's private key at: https://keys.lol
I expect a kickback if you hit. 😉
Let's review how The DAO Fork went.
- Fork was triggered prematurely.
- DAO Coins launched without Smart Services, rendering them entirely useless.
- Messages v2 doesn't actually include functional group chat.
- No profile multisig
- No spending limits
- Updates completely broke Postgres (and sites like NFTz) for weeks.
- Certainly no ++
So what did we actually get? Just NFT buy now and splits that work in a way that make them mostly useless.
And now we're supposed to be cool with heads-down silence from the core team?
Upgrade will include:
* DAO coins, our biggest on-chain product since Creator Coins
* NFTs v2 (buy now + splits)
* Messages v2 (group chats++)
* Profile multisig
* Spending limits
Actually I made a post on the protocol last night, locally, about 15 min after first getting started with it. Was exhilarating!
The contracts were just launched yesterday, so they've already executed. They've been building this for a while and launched actual products before a token. They'll be building the app layer WITH the community.
No insider sales. No pseudonymous founders. No equity piece in the $250k grants. Respectable bug bounties. Governance built in from day one.
Already has more discord users and twitter followers in under 24 hours.
I think it’s cool that they generated some buzz around the announcement, but there’s a huge gap between hype and execution.
Curious about @LensProtocol?
This is a good overview of the information published yesterday.

The $DESO Supply Will Not Always Be Fixed
The max supply is currently fixed at around 10.8 million coins. The way you determine this number is by looking at the circulating supply (~10.5M), and adding the future mining rewards expected.
One of the biggest selling points of the DeSo blockchain are the low transaction fees. The fees here are currently fixed at an artificially low rate. If we needed miners to actually secure the network we'd have to increase fees or block rewards (inflation) to convince them to mine here.
This will change with the switch to Proof of Stake.
Similarly to mining, people that stake coins expect a reward in return. These rewards are more DESO coins, and they must come from somewhere. If we won't raise transaction fees, that means they can only come from one place: inflation.
Don't believe me? Just ask the guy who's building it. @petern shared that DeSo PoS will resemble Solana, which has significant inflation tied to the amount of SOL staked.
