Should your startup focus on the SMB (Small and Medium Sized Business) market or go for mega enterprises?
My answer: SMBs if possible.
I explain why in this short (1 min) video which is from a talk I gave over a decade ago.
@HubSpot turns 16 years old in a couple of weeks. We are STILL focused on serving the SMB market. We resisted the reverse gravity, and it has worked out OK.
Yes. My son (11 yo) loves anime, so I've watched many with him:
2) My Hero Academia
3) Dragon Ball
I was just watching Bloomberg TV while sitting in a hotel room in NYC.
They aired a clip of @brian_armstrong saying: Twitter should adopt a decentralized protocol. Just like there is DeFi -- decentralized finance, there is also Decentralized Social -- DeSo.
He actually said DeSo. Nice!
Question for the devs: If I wanted to provide the simplest possible DeSo account setup for WordPlay.com players, how easy could I make it?
Is it possible to programatically:
1) Create the account
2) Transfer minimal DeSo ($10) to account.
3) Set their username (same as they have on WordPlay)
4) Show them their auto-generated key phrase and link them to where they can change it.
Is this possible?
Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.
Why would the co-founder of @HubSpot (Worth $15B+) create a word puzzle game inspired by Wordle?
Answer: I was inspired by my 11 year old son -- and Steve Jobs.
Here's the inside story, and a key lesson learned over a lifetime.
Have been playing around with DALL-E by OpenAI and it's just amazing.
Here's a photo I uploaded to DALL-E and asked it to replace the shirt with an orange one (because that's on-brand for @HubSpot).
New image in the thread.
Be good at seeing the problems and great at showing the potential that lies beyond them.
Thanks for all that you both do for the DeSo community. I've watched 95%+ of all the episodes you've ever published.
You have just the right mix of positivity/optimism and reality/pragmatism.
Just watched #395 and your observation that DeSo core team are builders, not marketers, is spot on. We all do what we're good at and comfortable with (myself included).
I *love* builders. And, that's why we need some marketing to help their work spread and shine.
Love seeing all those smiling faces!
Looks like everyone had a great time.
Enjoy and huge thanks to @MrTrip1et
If you need to do marketing, does that mean you FAILED at product?
Naval says yes.
I say no.
I explain why in this short (4 min) video from my ongoing YouTube series.
Those are impressive stats. Looks like I have some work to do.
So, moving on to "Top Creators All Time" currently ranked #3 and 4... @dharmesh vs @WhaleSharkdotPro ...
WS.P hasn't been seen on DeSo for 3+ months - the fact they're still +4 is testament to their contributions. Hope to see them back posting soon.
Not sure if you folks have been following the #BuyTwitter trending hashtag on twitter.
It's basically a group of people imploring Elon Musk to buy/acquire twitter. This is related to his tweet advocating for free speech.
My quick take:
1) He can afford it.
2) He *does* believe in free speech, so I wouldn't mind if he bought it.
Important for DeSo: Twitter is *buyable* (they're publicly traded). What if someone that DIDN'T believe in free speech bought it? That could be awful.
DeSo is sheltered from that risk.
